Mass Flow Meters

Mass Flow Meters

Flow meters are measuring instruments that measure the flow of liquids or gases. They determine the mass flow rate or volumetric flow rate of a medium passing through a pipeline or duct.

Mass flow meters enable accurate measurement of mass, volume, density and temperature. They are available in various diameters, allowing them to be matched to a specific application. They are used in the oil, paper, food and pharmaceutical industries – in other words, they find application across a wide range of sectors.

The challenge of measuring free-flowing powders or granulates is significant, as it applies to applications such as truck loading, dosing into mixers and monitoring production throughput. Most importantly, however, is ensuring high accuracy without the need for special maintenance procedures.

An excellent solution to this challenge is the FlowSlide mass flow meter. Its operating principle exerts minimal physical impact on the material, meaning the risk of product damage from moving parts is very low. The robust and simple construction ensures the device is reliable, easy to operate and convenient for day-to-day use.

Operating Principle

The FlowSlide mass flow meter measures the mass flow rate of bulk solids travelling along a curved, arc-shaped element. In accordance with the laws of physics, the material generates a centrifugal force proportional to the flow rate, which means the measurement is precise. A dedicated mechanism then transmits this force to a strain gauge load cell, ensuring that disturbances caused by density, particle size or material friction are virtually negligible.
